I am certified to practice EMDR by the EMDR Institute, Inc.

What is EMDR?

EMDR is Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy. It is an evidence-based treatment for coping with trauma. This modality can be used in conjunction with ongoing psychotherapy, or can be utilized as a short-term protocol for improving recovery efforts after a traumatic event.

What can I expect from EMDR?

EMDR can be conducted in a normal office visit. We may extend the length of a visit to 90 minutes in order to complete a reprocessing session in its entirety. I am not able to offer EMDR via Telehealth.

While utilizing EMDR, we will discuss a target memory that is connected to a challenge you’re experiencing presently. After that, we will utilize eye movements as a way of moving through your memory pathways and networks, trying to relieve the stress of the impact of the trauma. The session concludes with adopting more positive language about your experience and with some body mindfulness tools.
